The Ashburn company became familiar with Jay Bender when he purchased an AeroAstro tracking device through U-Spy Store, a Chicago business that normally caters to people curious about wayward spouses. Bender said he bought the device to make his blog about his epic motorcycle rides more interesting.
"I joked, 'with that thing on my bike, you have to behave everywhere,'" he said. Bender is the only motorcyclist to use the company's equipment, but AeroAstro has been approached about sponsoring a cross-country car trip, said Pia Miranda, director of business operations. During the ride, known as Four Corners, Bender traveled from his home in Columbia, SC, to checkpoints in Key West, FL; San Ysidro, CA; Blaine, WA; and Madawaska, ME. Bender visited AeroAstro on his way home. He traveled 10,500 miles and wrote about the experience whenever he had Internet access. A lawyer who represents South Carolina newspapers and broadcasters, Bender titled the blog after the first question he trains his clients to ask during sticky situations, www.whereisbender.blogspot.com. |
